Sydney Ferries has increased productivity and improved efficiency across the organisation, showing a significant reduction in real costs since 2007. The average cost per passenger reduced by almost 50 cents from 2008-09 to 2009-10, and reduced further, by a dollar in 2010-11 to $8.47 per passenger journey.
Improved maintenance practices at the Balmain Shipyard have also resulted in increased efficiency in asset management, improving vessel reliability from 95% in 2008-9 to 96.4% in 2009-10.
