April School Holidays
Saturday, 9 April to Tuesday, 26 April
School Holidays can mean Sydney Ferries services can be busy and popular services may reach capacity. Remember to plan ahead, arrive early for your service and allow plenty of time for travel.
There are some good tips for travelling with children on the Family Funday Sunday page, and information about family fares for transport travel. Remember to check any tidal information if you plan to travel to and from Parramatta.
There are also lots of great itineraries and attraction information to help you plan a fun day out on the harbour.
Easter Long Weekend
Sydney Ferries services will operate to the following timetables this Easter long weekend:
- Friday, 22 April - Public holiday timetable
- Saturday, 23 April - Public holiday timetable
- Sunday, 24 April - Public holiday timetable
- Monday, 25 April - Public holiday timetable (ANZAC Day)
- Tuesday, 26 April - Public holiday timetable
Please note: The Navy Heritage Centre is closed on Good Friday, 22 April and Sydney Ferries services will not stop at Garden Island Wharf as a result.
Family Funday Sunday
All Sundays are Family Funday Sunday's, with great fare deals for families travelling together. Over the April School Holidays crowds are expected to be big, so make sure you plan ahead including making alternative travel arrangements should your ferry service reach capacity.
For the Easter long weekend, the special Family Funday Sunday deal has been extended to ANZAC Day, Monday, 25 April. Read more about Family Funday Sunday terms and conditions.
Royal Easter Show
The Sydney Royal Easter Show starts on Thursday 14th April 2011 and finishes on Wednesday 27th April 2011.
ShowLink Tickets
ShowLink is the only ticket to the Show and can be pre-purchased from CityRail stations from Monday 11 April until Wednesday evening, 27 April and on board Sydney Olympic Park Major Event Buses on Show days. These tickets are open dated and will be validated when entering a Rail or Ferry gate.
ShowLink tickets are not sold on regular Sydney Bus Services or Sydney Ferry services. Customers should pre-purchased a ShowLink ticket for travel on our ferry service to Sydney Olympic Park. Customers who have not pre-purchased a ShowLink ticket are required to pay the normal fare and then pay for show entry at the showgrounds.
Travel to Sydney Showgrounds
Sydney Showground is an approximate 40 minute walk from Sydney Olympic Park Wharf. There is a connecting 526 bus through to Sydney Showground however capacity on the regular ferry and bus is limited.
The best option is to catch a train from Circular Quay Station and change at Lidcombe for one of the many additional train services to Olympic Park Station.

ANZAC Day
Monday, 25 April
Participants wearing their uniform, displaying their medals or in the possession of an official letter from their local RSL Branch, (this includes widows, widowers, spouses, children and grandchildren of veterans) are entitled to free travel throughout the entire CityRail network, Sydney Buses, Newcastle Buses, Sydney Ferries and Newcastle Ferries on Anzac Day only.
Special early morning bus and train services are running so customers can attend the 4.15am Dawn Service at Martin Place. The Sydney Anzac Day Dawn Service begins at 4.15am at the Cenotaph, Martin Place.
Other services in the Sydney CBD on Anzac Day include:
- Anzac Day March – commences at the corner of Pitt Street and Martin Place at 9.00am
- Anzac Day Commemoration Service – Anzac Memorial, Hyde Park South at 12.30pm
- Anzac Day Sunset Service – the Cenotaph, Martin Place at 5.00pm
