Sydney Ferries staff and customers dig deep to help flood victims (Posted: 22-Jan-2011)
Generosity has flowed quickly for the Queensland Premiers Disaster Relief Appeal this week with Sydney Ferries passengers and staff donating $56,665 to date.
$27,674.05 in cash was donated at Circular Quay, Manly Wharf and Darling Harbour Terminal-King Street since the collection began last Thursday.
Sydney Ferries Chief Executive David Callahan then expanded the appeal to allow staff to cash in an annual leave day as their donation.
‘Our staff came up with this great initiative, and to date we have had more than $28,940 in annual leave contributed,’ he said
Mr Callahan said staff and passengers showed no hesitation in supporting their fellow Aussies in need.
‘Our buckets were heavy with donations within minutes, showing just how willing people are to give generously,’ he said.
