Important travel information for Reserve Forces Day Parade 4 & 5 July 2009 (posted 3 July 2009)


Free travel will be provided on government public transport to Reservists travelling to and from the Reserve Forces Day parades in Newcastle and Sydney on Saturday 4 and Sunday 5 July.

To be eligible for free travel, Reservists need only to wear their uniform, display their medals or carry similar identification. Free transport is also available to cadets dressed in full uniform.

Arrangements include free travel on:

Sydney Buses and Sydney Ferries on Saturday and Sunday 5 July.

The entire CityRail network - Saturday 4 July and Sunday 5 July.

Newcastle Buses and Newcastle Ferries on Saturday 4 July and on Sunday 5 July, between

Newcastle & Sydney only, if attending Sydney services.

The offer of free travel will not apply on premium services such as Sydney or Bondi Explorer buses.

Return travel will be made available for the price of a single ticket on CountryLink services to Broadmeadow and Sydney on Saturday 4 July and Sunday 5 July. This offer does not apply to participants travelling from Broadmeadow/Sydney to Reserve Forces Day parades in other towns.

Participants must provide documentation of their status on the official letterhead of the local RSL when making an advance booking.
