Australia Day 26 January Travel Information (updated 24 January) (Posted: 05-Jan-2012)
Transport Information
Australia Day is generally the busiest day of the year for Sydney Ferries.
Please make sure that you plan ahead, including planning alternative travel arrangements should scheduled ferry services reach capacity.
- Sydney Ferries will operate to a public holiday timetable.
- The Eastern Suburbs (Watsons Bay / Rose Bay) ferry service will not operate on 26 January 2012 due to the Australia Day Ferrython harbour exclusion zone.
- Afternoon services between Circular Quay and Parramatta will be tidal affected.
- For your safety, Boarding Passes may be issued for Parramatta River services that are likely to reach capacity in the afternoon. Please plan to be on the wharf early, listen to announcements and see wharf staff to collect your pass. Passes may be issued at Parramatta, Darling Harbour and Circular Quay. They do not replace your ferry ticket and are used to manage queuing on wharves.
- Use the Trip Planner at www.131500.com.au or call 131 500 to plan your Australia Day travel.

What is there to see and do around Sydney on Australia Day?
There are many fun and free events happening all around Sydney on Australia Day. Please visit the Australia Day Council's comprehensive website at www.australiaday.com.au for full details of events and things to see and do.
Where can I view the Ferrython?
The exciting Australia Day Ferrython starts from Fort Denison, around Shark Island and finishes at the Harbour Bridge. The event kicks off at 11.00am and finishes at 12.00pm.
Best Vantage Point is: Harbour foreshore - Harbour Bridge to Shark Island. Ferrython event information.
Can I purchase tickets to go on board a vessel in the Ferrython?
The Australia Day Ferrython is Sydney Festival event, and the vessels are sponsored, with employees from those companies on board the vessels. Neither Sydney Ferries or Sydney Festival are selling tickets to the Ferrython in 2012, and we apologise for any disappointment.
Members of the public are invited to watch the Ferrython for free from Circular Quay and other vantage points around Sydney Harbour.
