Sydney Ferries Nose A Good Cause! (posted 27 June 2008)
It is hard to miss the brightly coloured red noses that are proudly displayed on the front of every Sydney Ferries vessel this week in support of Red Nose Day - Friday, 27 June 2008.
Sydney Ferries bought the red noses as part of its contribution to the annual fundraising appeal that is organised by SIDS and Kids, the children’s charity dedicated to the elimination of sudden and unexpected infant death.
Customers travelling on the Manly Ferry service on Friday, 27 June, will notice volunteers from Deloitte collecting for the Red Nose Day appeal and are encouraged to donate generously to the cause.
Sydney Ferries staff members have eagerly supported this year’s appeal, selling several boxes of merchandise and hosting ‘Red Nose Day donut’ morning teas to raise money for the cause.
Ros Richardson, General Manager SIDS and Kids NSW, says the organisation is delighted to have the support of the business community for Red Nose Day 2008.
“With Sydney Ferries getting behind Red Nose Day, our important messages can reach further into the community and increase awareness of our services in supporting families who experience the death of their baby or young child during pregnancy, birth, infancy and childhood, as well as of our role in educating the community about Infant Safe Sleeping practices.”
In total, Sydney Ferries donated over $3000 to the SIDS and Kids 2008 Red Nose Day appeal. Funds raised for SIDS and Kids go towards SIDS-related research and education programs and the 24-hour counselling and support service provided by the organisation.
Sydney Ferries is proud to once again support this worthwhile cause.
