Travel with a valid ticket
Stay out of hot water. Travel with a valid ticket.
Sydney Ferries staff, Revenue Protection Officers and police can request to see your ticket and concession authority card at any time. Sydney Ferries offers a number of tickets suitable for a range of travel needs and it is your responsibility to ensure you have a valid ticket.
Important considerations when travelling by ferry:
- Always carry your valid concession card when travelling with a concession ticket.
- Do not use an outdated or false concession card or authority.
- Check with Sydney Ferries staff or crew if you are unsure of your ticket’s validity for the trip.
- It is your responsibility to ensure you have purchased the correct ticket for your journey or had your FerryTen marked off by a cashier onboard before disembarking the vessel.
- Revenue Protection Officers randomly patrol Sydney Ferries vessels. To ensure you do not receive a fine, make sure you are travelling with the correct ticket.
- On the spot fines of $100 may apply to customers travelling without a valid ticket. Fines of up to $550 may apply if the customer chooses to challenge the case in court.
More information about the different fare types, concession guide and a list of newsagents that sell our tickets is available in the Guide to travelling with Sydney Ferries brochure.
