Group and School Travel

Sydney Ferries welcomes school groups to travel on Sydney Ferries services as part of their excursion. In fact many school groups find that the ferry ride is more than just a transport option and forms an exciting element of the excursion day!

Sydney Ferries services travel to many destinations visited by groups including Sydney Olympic Park, Darling Harbour, Cockatoo Island, Taronga Zoo and Manly.

Sydney Ferries also welcomes other travel groups to plan their travel on Sydney Ferries. Whether you are in a tour group or a work group or a social group, Sydney Ferries is happy to assist with your travel plans.

Can I book a place on a ferry?

As Sydney Ferries is part of the NSW public transport system, seats are unable to be reserved on normal Sydney Ferries services. We do recommend that large groups plan ahead and allow plenty of time to arrive at the ferry wharf before the service's scheduled departure time.

Is there any important information I should know?

Special event days, school holidays and Family Funday Sundays can be quite busy on the ferry network, and popular services can reach capacity quickly. We recommend that customers travelling in groups ensure they plan ahead and allow plenty of time for travel. Give us a call and let us know when you plan to travel or if you have any questions about your group travel needs.

Do you offer group discounts?

If you are travelling in a large group and are planning a single/return trip on the ferry, Sydney Ferries recommends buying a combination of MyFerry TravelTen and Single tickets to cover the number of people in your group. A TravelTen has ten trips, and can be used by more than one person. A TravelTen represents a 20% saving on normal single/return tickets.

For example, a single MyFerry1 adult ticket is $5.30. A MyFerry1 TravelTen is $42.20 - making it $4.22 per trip. If you have ten people going on a return trip to Darling Harbour, you would buy two MyFerry1 TravelTens, to cover the ten trips over and back. This saving also applies to concession TravelTen tickets. Find out more about different ticket fares and concessions.

I would like general information about group travel.

I would like to book tickets in advance or obtain a quote for group travel.

You can purchase and collect Sydney Ferries tickets in advance (for groups of 10 or more). Tickets that can be purchased in bulk in advance include MyMulti DayPass, selected single ferry tickets and selected FerryTen tickets.

Please download our Ticketing Enquiry Form, fill it in and fax to 02 9207 3171 or call our Revenue Office on 02 8113 5424 to leave a message (Mon to Fri) or email marketing@sydneyferries.nsw.gov.au. Our Revenue Office will then be in touch with you about your ticketing requirements.

Do you have any Risk Assessment advice?
