Accessible Transport Action Plan

Accessibility on Sydney Ferries

Sydney Ferries will continue to champion the NSW Accessible Transport Action Plan to make ferry travel accessible to everyone.

The Accessible Transport Action Plan is available to view and download from the NSW Transport and Infrastructure website.

Wheelchair access on Sydney Ferries

All vessels are wheel chair accessible*.

Currently Circular Quay*, Abbotsford, Cabarita, Chiswick, Cremorne Point*, Darling Harbour (King Street Wharf 3), Darling Harbour (Aquarium), Kissing Point, Manly, Meadowbank, Mosman Bay, Neutral Bay*, Parramatta, Pyrmont Bay**, Rydalmere, Sydney Olympic Park, Taronga Zoo and Woolwich wharves are wheelchair accessible.*

NOTE: Gangway and Ramp gradients are tide dependent.

* Assisted access may be required at low tide. For information about low tides please visit the Bureau of Meteorology tidal website.

** Pyrmont Bay has no wheelchair access at very low tide.

Circular Quay wheelchair short-term use

Sydney Ferries has a wheelchair which is available for short-term customer use in the vicinity of Circular Quay wharves if required. If you require a wheelchair to transfer between wharves or to Circular Quay train station, please speak to a Sydney Ferries staff member at your closest wharf. If the wheelchair is available, they can make arrangements for it to be brought to you.

Customers with special needs

Sydney Ferries provides information in a wide range of formats to support customers with special needs.

Service information, wharf signage, audible announcements, knowledgeable staff, Transport Info 131 500 and the websites www.131500.com.au and www.sydneyferries.info communicate up-to-date information and service changes.

The TTY (teletypewriter service) 1800 637 500 is available for the hearing and service changes.

Large format timetables

Accessibility on Sydney Ferries

The Sydney Ferries website allows customer to print A3 timetables and network maps. The website and network maps contain accessibility information including a list of wharves that are wheelchair accessible (pending tidal and safety conditions).

Commitment to Disability Discrimination Act

As part of Sydney Ferries ongoing commitment to the Disability Discrimination Act 1992 (DDA), Sydney Ferries will be continuously improving accessibility of information for customers with special needs through:

  • Readability of handheld timetables has been improved including ferry service information, service maps and a new section listing the special information information points available to customers with special needs.
  • Large format timetables available from Sydney Ferries ticket outlets at Circular Quay and Manly.
  • Development of large format locality maps, providing information about surrounding facilities and accessibility information (this is currently being rolled out and improved with the new signage infrastructure project due for implementation by NSW Maritime).
  • Sydney Ferries website complies with W3C Web Accessibility Guidelines, enabling users to increase the font size and display of information.
  • Service information is accessible in audible, visual and assisted information formats through Transport Info 131 500, the websites www.131500.com.au, www.sydneyferries.info and the TTY (teletypwriter service) 1800 637 500.
  • Accessibility information on the Sydney Ferries website including a list of wharves that are wheelchair accessible (pending tidal and safety conditions).
  • Hearing loops available at Circular Quay and Manly wharves.
  • Public announcements as a priority service for customers at wharves and on vessels.
